Frequently Asked Questions: Custom-Made Rugs »

    Q. What is the typical lead time for a custom carpet?

    A. Most of our bespoke hand-knotted projects are completed in 6 to 12 weeks, depending on the size, weaving technique, and complexity of the design:
For highly intricate patterns or exceptionally large, oversized carpets (such as our 18′ x 12′ formats), the traditional hand-knotting process is highly labor-intensive and can take up to 26 weeks to ensure absolute perfection.

We will always establish and confirm a realistic, transparent timeline with you before any weaving begins.

    Q. Do you provide an authenticity certificate?

    A. Yes, absolutely. Every custom carpet we craft undergoes rigorous quality checks and is accompanied by our official RugAssure Certificate of Authenticity. This certificate details your rug’s exact specifications, including its handmade construction, pile height, and premium materials (such as Grade 6A Mulberry silk or high-altitude Merino wool).

Furthermore, each piece is thoroughly inspected by our managing partner, Rohit Sharma, who is a leading rug expert in India with over three decades of experience.

Along with our RugAssure certificate, we hold a host of official credentials and accreditations from the Government of India.

    Q. Can you make non-rectangular shapes?

    A. Yes, we can craft almost any size and shape to fit your space perfectly. Beyond traditional rectangles and runners, we regularly create round, square, oval, and octagonal shapes.

We also specialize in completely irregular, custom cut-out, and self-shaped bespoke rugs for highly contemporary spaces.

Whether you are looking for an organic free-form silhouette or an avant-garde design, our master artisans can customize the shape to match your exact interior vision.

    Q. Where can I see samples?

    A. You can experience our craftsmanship and explore samples in two convenient ways:

Visit Our Mumbai Showroom: We invite you to experience our collection of over 2,000 handmade carpets in person at Carpets of Kashmir, located at 20, Crush Hall, Ground Floor, The Arcade, World Trade Center, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai – 400 005, India.

Book a Virtual Consultation: If you are shopping from the USA or outside Mumbai, you can easily book a personalized virtual appointment.

Our managing partner and rug expert, Rohit Sharma, will guide you.  Our design team will share high-definition CAD design boards, yarn color poms, and physical sample swatches to give you complete confidence before weaving starts.
