Coffee Table Rugs
(7 ft x 5 ft or 2.15 m x 1.50 m)
Welcome to our newest collection of hand-knotted rugs in a cozy and easy-to-use size of 5 ft x 7 ft (1.50 m x 2.20 m) called, Afthonia meaning abundance in Greek.
These enthralling rugs are designed by our in-house textile artists and are centered around the Indo-Kashmir lineage of palatial architecture, iridescent jewelry, and ceramics of the Neolithic age discovered in the valley of Kashmir.
Each Afthonia rug is knotted by 2 artisans working 6 to 8 hours a day and takes 5 months to be made. Involving 28 steps – from pre-production, designing, to weaving, to washing and finishing, this is a laborious yet enriching process that goes in producing an Afthonia heirloom.
We believe every rug has its own destiny and will find a home that it truly deserves. Albeit the rarest of rare rugs, like from the Afthonia collection, chose their own abode!
Many people wonder, “What makes a rug Oriental?” The answer lies in the unique blend of artistry, culture, and history embedded in every fiber. Hand-knotted by skilled artisans, these rugs reflect the diverse traditions of regions like Persia, India, and China, making each one a unique work of art that tells a story of its own.
Handmade rugs are often envisioned as flawless works of art that seamlessly fit into any space. But the reality is that their true beauty lies in their individuality—slight deviations in weave and hue add character and tell the story of the artisan’s hands.
